The Virtual Independent Learning Centre or VILC is an Australian website supported by Adult Migrant English Services (AMES). It is an virtual online service for English learners and has English language resources for adult learners. You will need to become a member to access the full resources available, if not, you can be a trial member and try the free videos, online activities, download digital media and other Australian materials that are useful for learners.
Most English institutions find the website provides valuable resources and sign up for the subscription and all the other teachers can retrieve the resources. I found the site was good for pre-intermediate level and up as most of the words, pace and topic were formal. Low levels will find this site hard and learners will not engage as they will find it difficult.
Virtual ILC has lots of resources. However, because people have to subscribe to the site, it does not provide a lot of variety for users. The materials are relevant and do have good quality. In my opinon, the design and layout of the site could be improved to intrigue learners and educators.
